Setting Left Position

I have a web site that is a table centered in the browser window. I want the menu aligned in my table. I'd like to get the position of an image already in the table and assign the oM.fromLeft= as the position of that image plus 10 pixels. Is there anyone reading this that is doing something such as this or know of a Javascript site that would have info on how to retreive an image's location?
