View Full Version : Looking for a basic asp forum
<font face='Verdana'>Hey Guys/Girls,
I am lookign for a free asp forum. I don't need anything nearly as nice as this forum or even the old Bratta.com forum. Just something very basic. Post, reply, maybe enter an email, but there doesn't really have to be a login.
Thanks.</font id='Verdana'>

Make one yourself <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle> You can do real simple ones pretty quickly using ASP and an Access database. It's also real good practice!
The forums used for these pages probably took me half a day to make, I customised them for each purpose!

(You can do test posts on the latter one (don't mention me:), the first one is quite formal!)
I suppose I could send you the files if you really wanted <img src=icon_smile_shock.gif border=0 align=middle>

Thanks Dan, I will give it a try....I must admit, i am not sure where to start, is there somewhere I can read about this before I dig in?
The problem is that it is for a client, and time is an issue. I only budgeted 1 day to setup and implement the message board, so if it takes longer than that it could mean a loss. ( Unfortunately the business aspect ruins alot of the fun of it <img src=icon_smile_sad.gif border=0 align=middle> )

I agree with Dan. Give it a try and see how it goes. It's good practice even if you use more time then budgeted. I did that all time (and I still do sometimes), take on jobs that I really don't know how to do, then learn as I go. The next time you need to do something similar you will probably do it in half the time budgetted, so in time it's worth it. And then you'll see that you actually got paid to learn, which is great :)
If you really don't have the time you might want to look at: http://aspin.com/
For learning ASP I started at http://www.learnasp.com

Thanks Thomas,
I actually am looking forward to doing it myself, I posted somewhere else recently about how you get the statisfaction and pride of knowing that you did it yourself instead of having soemone else do it. I will check out that link today...I have to finish a big project TODAY or I am <img src=icon_smile_dead.gif border=0 align=middle>

did we ever figure out if you needed an ASP (VBScript) version or CGI (PERL) version?

Dayve,
I am assuming you were going to offer some links/paths to some cgi forums....thank you for the offer, but I am going to use ASP on our IIS servers. I am an ASP kind of guy! :)
