Hi all... I hope I'll get good news out of this. I am tired of designing sites for different browsers, versions and pc or mac. Darn it.

Can anyone tell me, if there's a lot of Mac users out there?? Is the percentage of Mac users high enough for us to worry about compatibility?

hope someone could shed some enlightenment for me thanks.

welcome to the wonderful world of web authoring my friend. with regards to your question: the easy answer is that there is no easy answer.

you must consider the audience you're trying to reach, what your message is, and of course the browser statistics - and then make a decision based on that. depending on the point of your site, and your audience, the "answer" will vary.

say for instance, you are creating a website full of add on components for the windows operating system. Then of course it isn't very important that your site work on mac, because the people you are trying to reach are all on windows.

on the other hand, if you are creating a design magazine like k10k.com or linkdup.com, then you'd better make sure it works on mac - since well over half your audience will be using that platform.

See, it's all about compromises; it has to be given the extreme level of fragmentation in browser world today.

So if you are making a portfolio/experiments/scripts site like most of the members of this board maintain, then the point of the site is to showcase your html/css/javascript skill. In that case it's much more important that it works on mac, just to prove that you can do it, regardless of the numbers of users that actually use it.

Hope this helps. All of us grapple with this every single day.
