View Full Version : date on forums
thomas?
errm... i don't know how much control you get over these forums, how you can change stuff and whatever, but could you make the date display in the internet standard form of yy/mm/dd, at the moment i always get confused because the dates are written in mm/dd/yy and in the uk i read them as dd/mm/yy. i think it would be better to have international internet date format, so i don't get confused.
thanks, paul
These forums actually comes with all kinds of date formats "built in". So I can change to whatever you want, anyone else have any thoughts about what would be best?
I am leaning towards:
31 Dec 2001
Or
Dec 31 2001
But any other way is possible.

I personally think Dec 31 2001 looks the best, but what would be cool (but highly absurd) would be to allow users to choose the structure they prefer as a user table setting and as long as they are logged on, they view the pages with that date structure.
Yes, I know I'm dreaming. :)

i think this may come down to where you are in the world again. cos i am in the uk i read dates as dd/mm/yy and this seems the logical way of doing it, in order. the month first to me looks wrong. i think it would be best if you put it in yy/mm/dd as this is international, and is even more logical than dd/mm/yy cos you can then read it down yy/mm/dd hh:mm:ss.
or 31 Dec 2001 from above.
oh well, either way is better than now,
paul
urg, Dec 31 2001 just looks messy (damn Americans!), gotta be 31 december 2001
Another advantage of doing it yy/mm/dd is that you can sort dates in the same way that you sort numbers and strings. But I think it looks weird to read 2001/12/31.
How about "Thirty-First December Two-Thousand and One"
