That machine got an answer for my questions in 90% of the cases... Quite good. "IT" even knows what java is and some few stuff about programming... IT told me it was based on CBR (Cased-Based Reasoning)... Wow

This is exactly why the Turing Test is not a valid assessment for Artificial Intelligence/Conciousness!

Given a big enough rule- & knowledge-base you could approximate human responses, yet the machine wouldn't (neccessarily) be concious.

Nah, I liked it and it's deffinitely a very good example of case-based reasoning and natural language processing.

BTW I've only got a BSc :) no PhD (yet)

I don't actually have ICQ so.... maybe a mIRC channel isn't such a bad idea.

ooops ok, BSc is fine too, hehe. I misread your pupius site, and that was long ago.

About the CBR, well i dont know how it works but it looks good. The machine even could store replies, but it told me it couldnt tell silly replies from intelligent replies, thus sometimes it stored some useless messages.

As for the mIRC i think i dont know of any. I suppose this post can do the job for now.

That chatbot is very interesting.
I found a way of outsmarting it by asking it a question which contradicts itself.
I usually ask it philosophical questions which leave it stuck for words.

Other than that, it's still a very very very interesting application.
It's one of those things which leaves you with so many thoughts afterwards.

It's very addictive. It's not afraid to confront questions in a clear and quick mannerable way, which is
very handy !

Limited at best - I was easily able to trip it up and some of the responces were generic. Although it did have the stock answers for some questions that would apply to any question being asked (not really a correct answer, but a valid one). It was interesting, however, and I was able to have it follow a series of questions and even ask a question or two and respond to the answer.
