New site makeover - need your opinion

I just put up my new version of my site (wanted to use the extensions for Dreamweaver
I wrote on my site, needed a makeover, etc) Please check it out and
let me know. The old site can be viewed from the link on the home
page for comparison.

Keep in mind, I am a coder, not a graphic artist so any hints on the
graphics will need to be kept within the abilities of your above
average programmer (for instance, I made all of the graphics on both
the new and old site - nothing spectacular). I also went out on a
limb for the color combos and choices (I like the old site colors,
but I keep getting comments on how 'brooding' or 'dark' or 'negative'
it is - which my wife claims matches my personality)
