I accidently posted this in the general dhtml forum. Sorry !! Guess it should go here instead

I recently purchased a domain name (webdevelopershomepage.com).

I am looking for some thoughts and ideas of what you as developers would like to see in a site like this. Everything from a design aspect to information. What do you want? What don't you want? Basically ANY comments will be greatly appreciated.

Should it be informational for developers or should it be a showcase for developers to gain attention and business or should it be divided in half for both or . . . ?

Please give it some thought and let me know what you think.

I think that you should make it informational, but try to showcase it as much as possible. The worst thing with most developer sites is the side navigation because they feel compelled to shove 101 links, making it a headache to find anything. So one of the most important things is backend/frontend heirarchy and structure!

It'd be nice to throw in some showcasey type of stuff, but only on a limited basis, as not to overpower the site.

The biggest thing is, as I've said, a clean structure and a clean design, making easy for everyone to use!!!

If you get that down, the rest should follow.

Thanks for the suggestions mad hatter.

I agree with your comments. I personally lean towards a 50/50 type of site combining information and showcasing individual developers talents but that's why I am looking for opinions from those who might look to a site like this. I was hoping for more suggestionS but what can you do? I appreciate whatever I get. Thanks!
