If you are useing frames and do not need to call pages from outside your own domain then try

It is a lot easier to use...works across browsers...and very solid. Now it does have one drawback...each page loaded into the bottom frame must load the menu...this means that you cannot use this to call pages that you cannot code with the loader. And there is no support for it, but it is really fairly simple to manage once you play around with it.

I like cool menu and am playing around with it because I would like to get away from the load problem with the hvmenu. But it is very browser specific and difficult to manage.
