I've never made any commercial stuff. Now somebody wants me to integrate a shopping-system in his site (Shopping-cart, pay with Credit-card).

Anyone here to help me get started?
What do I need?

Thanks.

you planning on building the entire system yourself, include the credit card handing features? what a lot of sites do is allow someone like worldpay or paypal to handle the payment issues... may be simpler. how big is the site (in terms of visitors/expected sales)?

It will be very small, so I only need the simple stuff. I'm not planning to build the entire system myself . I simply don't know what you need to do the credit-card thing.
So you normally let a third party handle this?

Any suggestions on the shopping-cart system?

Have a look at this topic at a Dutch forum: http://www.hid.nu/viewtopic.php?t=129

the 3rd party thing obviously isn't anything like as 'professional' as a complete integrated system like you would see on amazon.com or somewhere, however that sort of system would take a lot of time and effort to get it working, and then you have to think about all the security issues.. not knowing your level of knowledge, i would guess that its out of your depth probably.

www.paypal.com
you setup your email and account details with them, and then people pay with paypal using your email address. accepts major credit cards.
www.nochex.co.uk
think this is UK-only, but there must be similar Dutch systems. accepts debit cards, Switch etc. (maestro over there?)

to be honest I don't think anyone will go there.
It's a very smalltown site about tessalations (some sort of patchwork). Now the guy insists on having an e-shop with the credit-card stuff.
Now I know this I can say it's way out of his league in terms of costst.

Any suggestions on a simple shopping-cart system which can be simply integrated? I don't know the details yet, but I think it supports ASP/PHP.

Why can't he publish his phonenumber and let people call him? Tessalation? Care to give me the Dutch word (or is that the Dutch word??).

It's something like quilt or patchwork.

I told him to make a simple form and let people order the patchwork.
He thinks he needs a shopping-cart, though.

Any help on this?

Tell him about the costs, and that you can't do anything about it.

Yeah, but I mean one without the creditcard-stuff.
There must be a solution which is cheap and has the Cart-functionality?
When you order your cart, you just submit the form.
